Quick note re: design of the blog

April 22, 2008

I apologize for the horrid undesign of the blog, I've been a bit too busy to really sit down and work on it and figured it would be better to get the content up asap. Hopefully you won't know what I'm talking about by the time you read this.

Update (04/28/2008 9:25pm): My good friend Josh Pyles, aka Pixelmatrix gave me a couple of quick recommendations on the site - tons of improvements! Thanks, Josh! If you still think it's ugly, well, sorry.

  • Nice work man! Now you just need to add hAtom, hCard and rel-me! ;)

    • Wouldn't it be nice if I could just get a bit of javascript from my Vidoop profile page to insert the hCard wherever? I don't really want to replicate the data.

I'm doing a bit of rel-me, especially on the sidebar.

hAtom, though. I'll get right on that.

      • That javascript you described is one of the beginning pieces of the DiSo plugins for WordPress -- though not through JS, through hcard import. ;)

We'll have to talk about this stuff if you're building it manually with Django! ;)

And, I see your hcard now -- excellent!

        • I would love to make it easier to do semantic markup in Django. One of the first things (not directly related to Django) that I've been thinking about is making a Python extension for Markdown to allow for easy rel-* use.

      • ...and it's now hAtom'd up. The converted feed seems to be mostly working, which is nifty. Individual pages will also push out comment feeds, though I'm not entirely sure the markup is as appropriate as it should be.

  • Would be nice when I authenticate with OpenID, that I'm returned back to the blog post I was about to comment on :-)

    • I wholeheartedly agree... And I just made it happen. Thanks for the advice.

    • I even went one step further and made it so that logging in with your OpenID and commenting is a one-step process.
